    Sindy Overview

    Sindy is a program for creating, configuring, and conducting computer-based tests. It can be used to develop your own psychological, educational, professional, and other tests, as well as to convert existing methods into electronic form if their structure can be represented through questions, answers, scales, and rules for calculating results.

    The program can be used by psychologists, teachers, career guidance and recruitment specialists, HR departments, consultants, and other professionals who need to create tests, conduct testing, and automatically process the results. Sindy is suitable for educational testing, psychological diagnostics, professional selection, employee assessment, surveys, and other tasks related to test automation.

    Test Builder

    The main part of Sindy is the Test Builder, where the structure of a test is presented as a hierarchical tree. This makes it possible to see all the main elements of a test at once and work with them as a single system.

    When creating a test, you can define:

    • questions and answer options;
    • one or more scales;
    • the weight of each answer for the corresponding scale;
    • interpretations of results for different value ranges;
    • instructions and additional information for the test;
    • the order in which questions are presented;
    • the option to return to previous questions;
    • the option to move freely between questions;
    • whether an answer is required;
    • the option to select one or several answers.

    A single answer can affect several scales at once with different weights. This allows Sindy to create not only simple tests that count correct answers, but also more complex methods in which results are calculated simultaneously across several characteristics.

    Automatic Interpretation of Results

    For each scale, several interpretations can be created. Each of them corresponds to a specific range of obtained values and contains a textual description of the result.

    After the test is completed, Sindy calculates the values for the specified scales and automatically selects the corresponding interpretations. In this way, the logic for processing the results is defined at the test creation stage.

    Conducting Tests

    A created test can be launched immediately in Sindy. The built-in Test Player displays the instructions, questions, and answer options in sequence and, after testing is complete, allows the user to proceed to the results.

    The testing window can be expanded to full screen so that other interface elements do not distract the person taking the test. Several different tests can be launched in the program at the same time.

    Reports

    After testing is complete, Sindy can generate a testing protocol and a results report. The results are calculated on the basis of the selected answers, the weights linked to them, the scales, and the predefined interpretations.

    Import and Export of Tests

    Ready-made tests can be imported into Sindy projects and exported for transfer to other projects or for sharing with other users.

    The program supports several export formats:

    • EDT — for subsequent import of the test into Sindy;
    • XML — for representing and exchanging structured data;
    • CSV — for subsequent data processing, for example in spreadsheets;
    • SWB — a special test format provided in Sindy.

    To speed up development, Sindy also allows entire groups of scales and interpretations, as well as questions and answers, to be imported from ordinary text files. This is especially convenient when transferring large existing methods into the program.

    What Sindy Can Be Useful For

    Sindy is especially useful when a specialist needs not merely to conduct a ready-made test, but to define its structure and the rules for processing the results independently.

    For example, the program allows you to:

    • create your own psychological and career guidance tests;
    • convert existing methods into computer-based form;
    • develop educational tests, assessments, and examinations;
    • create questionnaires for professional selection and HR tasks;
    • use several scales within a single test;
    • automatically calculate results and generate their interpretations;
    • quickly modify questions, answers, scales, and calculation rules;
    • transfer developed tests between projects.

    At the same time, Sindy remains a tool for creating and automating testing. The validity of the method being used, the choice of scales, the wording of questions, and the professional interpretation of the results depend on the author of the test and the specialist who uses it.
